Located 30 km north-east of Wellington City, Upper Hutt boasts 70% of the region’s parks and reserves, along with state-of-the-art entertainment and leisure facilities. 41,600 people call Upper Hutt City home. From Silverstream to the Rimutaka Hill summit, the city encompasses an area of 540 square kilometres.
The dream lifestyle. Upper Hutt is the Wellington region’s outdoor paradise. For residents it means relatively cheap housing and rental accommodation that is likely to have more space than most city housing. The city is nestled in the northern Hutt Valley with a trout-fishing river flowing through its heart, surrounded by bush-clad hills.
For the casual outdoors person there are leisurely walks along a well-developed river trail or gentle bush walks. For the more adventurous, kayaking, tramping or mountain-biking will be more appealing.
Upper Hutt prides itself on its many nationally and internationally successful sporting teams and individuals, who have easy access to plenty of sports fields and manny other facilities including the renowned aquatic centre H2O Xtream.
The Expressions Arts and Entertainment Centre hosts regular art exhibitions and live art performances, and is a focal point for the city’s art and culture fraternity.
